Thanks to a generous sponsor and his group of friends, a new school is rising in the little village of Kafara. Parents and children in the village are excited, and so are we.
Walls are going up for the three classrooms that will serve 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. The principal’s office has a foundation and will soon grow tall (and looming…like all principals’ offices). The hard work of digging the latrines has yet to be done, but will soon be tackled.
Our Mali staff are over seeing all this hard work with a goal of finishing the school in time for the beginning of Mali’s school year in the second week of October. Fingers crossed, it looks like we’ll be ready to welcome a hundred or more happy students for their first day of middle school!
Kafara’s school is our 23rd Mali Rising school. The 22nd school is also under construction in Sankama, and we will share several fun updates from that school next week!
