We just love it when our work helps us connect with other people doing great things in the world. This was certainly the case when we met the good people behind Cultures Capsules.
What is Cultures Capsules? According to them, “Cultures Capsules are multimedia, cultural portraits. We weave food, music & stories, into multi-sensory, immersive experiences of a person, place, time or tradition.”
We connected with them because they were inspired to host a pop-up picnic and fundraiser for Mali Rising when they heard that Malian musician Salif Keita was playing in their home city of New York. They simply invited a great group of people together for music and a picnic of Malian food, and managed to connect a whole new group of friends to our work! Thank you Cultures Capsules! Learn more about their gathering on their blog.
And their support didn’t stop there. The children of Cultures Capsules’ leaders held a lemonade stand to raise money for our students — and it must have have been some darn good lemonade!
We are so glad that people are gathering to learn more about other cultures (including Mali’s) and truly grateful for the donations people made to help our students.
