By Merritt Frey, Executive Director
Mali Rising is a small organization that does a whole lot. How can we do it? A lot of it comes down to great, dedicated volunteers. Currently, we are looking for a few very specific volunteers to help us by serving as Advisers in key areas.
Our Advisory Council is a group of people with special skills who help Mali Rising and our board. Advisers usually spend an average of 2 to 3 hours a month helping us with specific projects in their area of expertise. This includes working with a small board committee focused on your area of expertise (usually an hour-long meeting every other month) and some independent work on the project between board committee meetings. Commitment may be for a few months or a year, depending on the project and your availability.
Currently, we are seeking volunteer Advisers with skills in the following areas:
Event design, planning, and implementation.
Creative strategies for building and sustaining an online community of supporters (e.g., marketing, social media, etc.).
Construction: design, project management, community involvement, etc.
Education, particularly how to best evaluate learning progress but also around a range of topics such as teacher training, classroom materials, etc.
Storytelling, including advice on telling the story of our organization and students in print materials, social media, video, and more.
Monitoring and evaluation, including selecting appropriate metrics, data collection in challenging environments, managing the data, and analysis.
Volunteer recruitment and management.
Advisers may be located anywhere in the United States. We use video link to allow participation from anywhere in the country. Want to know more? Contact Merritt for a chat about our needs and your interests!
