Mali Rising Book Group: The Moment of Lift

Note: This event is at 1pm pacific/2pm mountain/3pm central/4pm eastern

Some of our supporters were really inspired by Melinda Gates' book, The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World. We decided it would be fun to have a book group-like discussion and connect some of the themes from the book with Mali Rising's work and your support. Please join us!

Not sure if you want to participate? Read a little about the book and some reviews on Good Reads. It is a surprisingly easy read and some of us (the geeks) even think it could qualify as a summer beach read. :)

This event is free and will be fun and informal. We think you’ll get the most out of the event if you’ve read the book, but even if you don't we think you'll find the discussion edifying. RSVP below to save your space.

Keeping Girls In School in Mali During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Join us via video link for a discussion with our wonderful Girls’ Project Manger, Hindaty Traore. We will cover the challenges of keeping girls in Mali safe and in school during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how Hindaty is leading our strategies to keep them there.

We promise beautiful photos, engaging stories, and inspiring details about how your support makes a difference in Mali. We will also feature a few ways you can get more involved as a volunteer. We’ll devote plenty of time to answering your questions too — feel free to ask about Mali culture, programming, Hindaty’s stories from the field or anything you are curious about.

RSVP here using the form below, and we’ll send you the video link info a few days before the video call. (Please note: we use the now-ubiquitous Zoom app for our calls, so most of you will be familiar with how to get on!)

Also note that the call is at Noon pacific/1 pm mountain/2pm central/3 pm eastern. The chat will last an about hour, but we will stay on the line a longer if you all have many questions.

Girls Project Volunteer Party: Assemble Menstrual Kits

Note: This event is subject to cancellation, depending on the situation with Covid-19. We will send an update to RSVPers a few days before the event.

Join a great group of volunteers to assemble menstrual kits that help our female students stay in school. The kit pieces will already be made (email Merritt if you have sewing skills and would like to be part of making the pieces), but we need a group of ready hands to assemble the pieces into full-fledged kits.

No special skills required, and this event is great for ages 10 and up. We need 4 to 7 volunteers for this event, so please RSVP today using the form below. If you have to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible!

The event will be held in a private home in Salt Lake City (Sugarhouse area), so we will share the address with RSVPers.
