Advisers Needed! We're Looking For A Few Special Volunteers

Mali Rising is a small organization that does a whole lot. How can we do it? A lot of it comes down to great, dedicated volunteers. Currently, we are looking for a few very specific volunteers to help us by serving as Advisers in key areas.

Travelogue: Day 8: The Ceremonial Opening of a New School!

There are few things more exciting and gratifying than seeing one of our partner villages celebrating the opening of their new school. The parents are joyful, the children are excited, and the village leaders are proud. We were able to share this wonderful experience with the village of Sankama on Day 8 of our travels in Mali….

Travelogue Day 4: Meeting the Mayor and Mana

Day four of our trip was a relatively short one, because we had to head north from the little town of Ouelessebougou back to the capitol, Bamako, to pick up a fellow traveler arriving at 2:30 pm. Still, we managed to get a lot done for Mali Rising with an early start and a lot of driving, from meeting the mayor, to visiting Mana, and more.

Resolve to Be Involved!

Are you making a New Year's resolution to volunteer more? We can help! You can truly make a difference in our work, no matter what your skills. Just as importantly, we think you'll take away as much as you bring -- being part of helping young people building better lives for themselves is just plain inspiring. To make it easier for you to get involved, we have launched a new web clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities…

Get to Know Mali Rising's Mt Logan Middle School

Located in the tiny village of Mamarasso, Mali, the Mt. Logan Middle School was completed in 2013 with the help of fundraising efforts from the students of Mt. Logan Middle located in Logan, Utah. Learn a little bit about this school, its village, and its students from our intern Sam.

Feeling Powerless? Take Back the Power With The Kids of N'Goko!

Do you sometimes feel powerless when you read the news? Like there’s just no way you can make an impact? I relate. But there are things you can do, and one of them is literally concrete — help build a school that will change lives for kids in Mali. Those changed lives will change our world.

Seriously.

The Final Numbers (& Winners!) Are In For Miles for Mali

The results are in and the winners identified! Together, we covered 3,156 miles during Miles for Mali this May. We raised $5,365 dollars to build the school in N’Goko – that’s still nearly 10 percent of the cost of the new school!

Did You Know You Can Sponsor A Latrine?

Did you know you can sponsor a latrine in someone’s honor? Well you can. Heck, you can even name it after yourself! Okay, the latrine might not be your first choice, but you can sponsor a classroom, the principal’s office, a solar system, or a set of textbooks for our new school in N’Goko too!
